This role within the pivotal Product Development department will be responsible for bringing new product innovation to the Charlotte Tilbury range by delivering on full cross-functional CPA management of assigned New Product Development launches, from leading conceptualisation through to production completion. Colour cosmetic projects will be the primary focus of the Product Development Manager, therefore in-depth colour knowledge and passion are essential.
This role will work very closely with our Packaging, Regulatory, Marketing, Operations and Product Portfolio teams ensuring that all key individuals are engaged and fully up to date on the requirements & running of each project. The Product Development Manager will also have line management responsibility.
Beauty industry research, sales analysis, new product conceptualisation, supplier briefing, ingredient research, cross functional CPA management, costings, product testing, briefing and presenting to the team and Charlotte, will be classed as the key responsibilities day to day. The ideal candidate will be experienced leading within a team, project managing blue sky and range extension beauty products. They must have 5+ years’ previous experience within the beauty industry with a strong focus on colour and complexion.
Key Responsibilities
Focus on developing & building the Charlotte Tilbury product portfolio
Full management of assigned colour cosmetics & complexion projects.
Beauty industry research & analysis
Charlotte Tilbury & industry sales analysis
Full cross-functional CPA project management – coordinating & delivering innovative & luxury products on time & within budget
Bluesky innovative product conceptualising – curating new product proposals
Supplier working relationship management & building
Working with 360 teams to coordinate & deliver on project objectives
Clear product briefing to suppliers & feedback on submissions
Project costs & margin management – negotiation & sign off
Active ingredient alignment & coordination with Regulatory team
User & clinical trials briefing with Marketing to Technical Manager
Setting up & tracking testing of submissions with artists & testing panels – collating valuable feedback & direction
Presenting formulas & product concept decks to New Product Development, Founder and wider teams
Line management of direct report
Travel overseas to supplier factories & innovation trade shows (dependent on government guidelines) an
Requirements
Self-motivated, eloquent and dedicated to the brand – a positive member of Team Tilbury
Proven & experienced project manager with strong experience & understanding of timelines / CPAs
Strong experience in full colour cosmetics & complexion product development management
Passionate & in-depth knowledge of the beauty industry
Strong knowledge of formulations & active ingredients
Experience or knowledge of user & clinical testing trials procedures
Strong network & relationships with industry suppliers
Excellent organisational & communication skills
Strong research & negotiation skills
Positive & effective leader with experience of managing an individual or team
Experience with sales data & analysis
Adaptable & flexible team player
Excellent skills using Microsoft programmes such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
5+ years previous experience within product development in the beauty industry
