Your purpose will be:
To lead a brigade of talented chefs to produce extraordinary 5 star dining experiences for our guests, in a positive working environment, where training is prioritised and food safety & hygiene standards are never compromised
You will be accountable for:
Running a controlled and smooth kitchen service to deliver five star quality food for our guests
Ensuring our high standards of cleanliness and food safety & hygiene are maintained at all times
Creating and developing new seasonal dishes, menu and offerings with our leadership team
Being a supportive leader and maximising the potential of your team
Your key responsibilities & contribution will be:
Driving a high performance team, through inspirational leadership, skills training and a commitment to their development
Having a comprehensive understanding of all the food hygiene, health & safety and COVID19 policies of the hotel. Being a role model for best practice and ensuring the team are adequately trained in this field
Assisting with the creation of new menu and offerings for our guests and facilitating menu training for the kitchen team and FOH team
Raising requisitions for food orders, with an awareness of the costings and quality of produce
Actively seeking to maintain knowledge of industry trends and put them to good use to improve our services
Conducting regular 121’s and check-in’s with the team and completing probationary reviews on time
Encouraging open communication in your team and keeping them informed of hotel updates by attending the kitchen briefings and hotel meetings as requested by your leader
Taking a proactive approach to resolving issues you have identified (e.g. regarding equipment or processes)
Adhering to all legal requirements, regulations and guidelines
Stepping up to cover the duties of our Executive Chef in their absence
What you will need to do this role
Essential assets:
5 years + experience in the luxury 5 star hospitality sector
Experience leading a team in the kitchen, and ability to inspire and motivate others
Passion for and understanding of 5 star hospitality and what it takes to deliver it
Outstanding communication skills, both written and spoken
Confidence in speaking with colleagues at all levels in the hotel
Enthusiastic and positive personality and ability to build trusting relationships with others
Proven organisation skills and ability to meet deadlines with quality results
GNVQ Level 3
Desirable assets:
Food Safety and Hygiene Certificate level 3
To be able to read a profit and loss statement and explain the results
To have a good understanding of Forbes & LQA standards and ability to implement them
A passion for learning and development
