12 Month Secondment/ Fixed Term Opportunity
Are you an experienced and creative communicator with a strong track record in planning and delivering effective communications strategies and innovative campaigns? Are you skilled at engaging with diverse and harder-to-reach communities, understanding their experiences and responding to their needs? Could you respond quickly in a crisis, getting vital public health messages out to hundreds of thousands of residents to help save lives?
Croydon Council is looking for a senior communications and engagement officer to join its corporate communications team and play a vital role in our response to the pandemic. Working closely with our public health colleagues and a huge range of internal and external stakeholders, you’ll lead the ongoing development and delivery of our Covid-19 communications strategy, ensuring it responds to our communities’ rapidly-changing needs. You’ll build on our excellent partnerships and lead our public health engagement with residents, to develop insight-led campaigns and targeted, tailored communications that reach deep into all of Croydon’s diverse communities, making a difference where it matters the most. A senior member of the team, you’ll be an experienced communicator, ideally with a strong understanding of local government and/ or public health, capable of influencing at all levels of the organisation and confident handling communications in a crisis.
