Piers Morgan takes aim at Alex Beresford over ‘premeditated’ attack during GMB row

Piers Morgan spoke about his exit from Good Morning Britain and the backlash over his comments about Meghan Markle in a US TV interview on Monday

Piers Morgan has taken aim at his former Good Morning Britain colleague Alex Beresford, after their on-air row over Meghan Markle led to his Good Morning Britain departure.

GMB fans had complained in their thousands over Piers’ claims about Meghan in the previous episode, and many backed Alex with his “take down” of his co-star causing him to go viral.

The controversial TV host and journalist left the show in March, on the same day he clashed with weatherman and host Alex about Meghan’s Oprah Winfrey interview, alongside her husband Prince Harry

Meghan had said she suffered suicidal thoughts during her time as a royal, with Piers suggesting he did not believe her.

It later emerged that Meghan had apparently complained to ITV over his comments in response to her interview, significantly where she spoke about her mental health.

On the show live on air last month, Alex accused him of “trashing” the actress, causing Piers to storm off during the live broadcast before quitting the show that same day

Speaking in his first tell-all interview on US TV on Monday night, Piers spoke with Tucker Carlson on streaming service Fox Nation about his GMB exit and everything that happened.

He also took the moment to slam his former colleague Alex, suggesting he was “personal” with his comments.

Tucker suggested Alex did not have any journalistic credibility, and Piers replied: “He is the stand in weather guy, he’s not a journalist.

“Someone I’ve helped in his career like he has asked me to.”

He went on: “I specifically asked for him to come in that morning… he wanted to explain to us and the moment he came on air he came with a premeditated attack on me that was quite personal.

“I walked off… I was quite angry in the moment, that I have a personal vendetta against Meghan Markle, which I don’t.”

Piers confessed he regrets walking off the show on air, looking back.
